God of War TV Series Reimagined After Producer Departures

Amazon Prime Video's live-action adaptation of 'God of War' is undergoing significant changes as showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have exited the project, prompting a complete creative overhaul. Despite several scripts being completed for the series, Amazon and Sony Pictures Television have decided to pursue a different direction. Cory Barlog, creative director at Santa Monica Studio, remains involved as an executive producer, along with other key figures from the original team. The series is expected to focus on Kratos and his journey with his son Atreus in the Norse realm, following the narrative of the successful video game franchise. This reset means the series is unlikely to air for at least three years, as the studios seek to recruit new writers and a showrunner. The adaptation is part of a growing trend of successful video game adaptations on streaming platforms, such as HBO's 'The Last of Us'.
