Fifth Suspect Charged in Young Dolph Murder Case

Shundale Barnett, 30, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph, facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and accessory after the fact. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office noted that charges against Barnett should have been dropped previously, as they did not formally pursue them after his initial arrest with convicted shooter Justin Johnson in January 2022. Barnett is accused of helping Johnson evade law enforcement by renting a vehicle used in the escape following Dolph's death in November 2021. His arrest marks the fifth individual charged in the case, which includes Justin Johnson, who was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder. Other co-defendants include Hernandez Govan and Jermarcus Johnson, with Govan's trial set for July. Barnett is scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2025.
