Bayside Murder-Suicide Highlights Rising Gun Violence

In a tragic incident in Bayside, Queens, a 28-year-old man, Frank Liu, fatally shot 17-year-old Neo Secaira before turning the gun on himself in what police suspect was a murder-suicide driven by a love triangle involving Liu's ex-girlfriend. The shootings occurred near Oceania Street and 48th Avenue around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Both victims were transported to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Liu, a US Marine, reportedly struggled with the trauma from his service and a rocky relationship. The NYPD is investigating the incident, which adds to the rising gun violence statistics in the city, with over 148 shootings recorded so far this year. The identities of the individuals were disclosed by police though some reports withheld them pending family notification.
