El Salvador Plans First Government Bitcoin Conference 2025
El Salvador is set to host Bitcoin Histórico, the world’s first government-sponsored Bitcoin conference, on November 12–13, 2025, in the historic Centro Histórico of San Salvador. Organized by the National Bitcoin Office, the event will feature prominent speakers such as Ricardo Salinas, Jeff Booth, Max Keiser, Jack Mallers, Pierre Rochard, Stacy Herbert, and Jimmy Song, who will discuss Bitcoin’s role in monetary independence, cultural rebirth, and economic sovereignty. The conference aims to blend finance, culture, and national identity with keynote addresses at the National Palace broadcast across the city, alongside workshops and panels at the National Library and National Theater. Despite recent IMF agreements leading to Bitcoin’s removal as legal tender and making merchant acceptance voluntary, El Salvador continues to accumulate Bitcoin reserves, holding over 6,200 BTC. The event highlights the country’s ongoing commitment to Bitcoin innovation under President Nayib Bukele, whose recent constitutional changes extend his presidential terms and support the continuation of his Bitcoin agenda. Themes will cover regulation, infrastructure, financial inclusion, and energy use, positioning El Salvador as a pioneer in integrating cryptocurrency into national economies.
