Mackenzie Hughes, Cristobal Del Solar Share Myrtle Beach Classic Lead
Mackenzie Hughes of Canada is leading the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic after shooting an 8-under 63 in the first round and a 2-under 69 in the second round, sharing the lead at 10-under 132 with Cristobal Del Solar of Chile. Hughes birdied his last four holes in the first round and managed four birdies and two bogeys in challenging windy conditions during the second round. The tournament, held opposite the Truist Championship, awards the winner a spot in the PGA Championship if not already eligible, though Hughes is already qualified. Notable contenders close behind include Nick Watney, who is a stroke behind after a 67, as well as Danny Walker, Harry Higgs, Will Chandler, and Davis Shore. Del Solar credited his strong play to consistent work and growing comfort on the course, while Hughes emphasized maintaining his routine and staying focused through the weekend. The competition features a mix of experienced players and emerging talent, with course conditions described as challenging due to firmer greens and wind.
