Bellevue Rideshare Driver Charged with Sexual Assault of Teen

Bellevue police have arrested Martin Njoki, a 43-year-old rideshare driver, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old passenger on February 17, 2023. Njoki is charged with unlawful imprisonment and indecent liberties after he reportedly convinced the teenager to sit in the front seat, made sexual advances, and prevented her from leaving the vehicle. The incident, which occurred around 4:45 a.m., concluded with the victim managing to escape and contacting law enforcement. Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Njoki was driving a Mitsubishi with the license plate CBM2456 at the time of the incident and is currently held in King County Jail on a $150,000 bail. The Bellevue Police Department emphasizes the importance of safety protocols when using ridesharing services and encourages potential victims to report any similar experiences.
