On September 16, Indiana State Police (ISP) seized 123.9 kilograms (approximately 273 pounds) of cocaine during a traffic stop of a semi truck at the I-94 eastbound scales in Porter County. The truck driver, 49-year-old Naseeb Chisty from Canada, was stopped for a motor carrier violation, and a K-9 unit alerted officers to a potential drug presence. A subsequent search confirmed the white powder was cocaine, leading to Chisty's arrest on charges of dealing cocaine and possession of cocaine, both felonies. The dealing charge is classified as a Level 2 felony in Indiana, which can carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Chisty is currently held at the Porter County Jail as the investigation continues. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
