Unrivaled 3×3 Basketball League Announces Teams

The newly announced 3-on-3 basketball league, Unrivaled, co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, will kick off on January 17 in Miami, featuring 36 players divided into six teams. On Wednesday, 34 players were announced, with two wildcard spots remaining open, sparking speculation about potential signings, including WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark. The teams were drafted from six pods of wings, guards, and forwards, ensuring competitive balance without coaches knowing their assigned teams beforehand. Team Mist, led by Stewart, includes notable players like Jewell Loyd, while Collier's Lunar Owls features Skylar Diggins-Smith. The league boasts a salary pool exceeding $8 million and has secured a multiyear partnership with TNT to broadcast more than 45 games throughout the season. The addition of equity in the league for players marks a significant development for women's sports.
