Melissa Threatens Jamaica; U.S. Weather Varied
Weather this week will vary widely across the U.S.: Phoenix and much of Arizona should see a warm, dry Halloween with highs in the mid‑ to upper‑80s and clear skies. A cool front will bring the first real taste of fall to southeast Louisiana and New Orleans—daytime highs in the 60s, a brief window of showers and gusty northwest winds, but generally pleasant trick‑or‑treating before temperatures rebound. The Mid‑Atlantic (Baltimore area) will be breezy and cool with rain Wednesday–Thursday (1–2 inches possible), while the Pacific Northwest looks dry for trick‑or‑treaters after a wet weekend. Some interior and northern locales face much colder nights with potential hard freezes (lows in the teens and 20s), and Southern California is trending warmer with some areas under a Heat Advisory. In the tropics, Hurricane Melissa remains an active threat to Jamaica; residents there and in nearby islands should monitor updates and local forecasts for possible impacts.
