Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has been sold to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for €25 million (£21.2 million). The 30-year-old Portuguese full-back, who spent the past season on loan with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, has signed a deal with Al-Hilal until 2027, earning around €15 million per year. Cancelo had fallen out of favor with City manager Pep Guardiola during the 2022/23 season, prompting the move. Al-Hilal, who recently signed stars like Neymar and Ruben Neves, strengthens their squad with this acquisition. Cancelo expressed gratitude to Manchester City, where he won multiple domestic trophies during his five-year tenure.
