Romania PM Boycotts Olympics Over Gymnastics Scandal

Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu initially celebrated winning the bronze medal until an appeal by U.S. coaches regarding Jordan Chiles' score resulted in a 0.1-point increase, bumping Chiles ahead of Barbosu. Ciolacu condemned the decision as 'totally unacceptable' and compared it to historical injustices faced by Romanians in past Olympic games. The incident has sparked widespread criticism and emotional reactions, with gymnastics legend Nadia Comăneci also condemning the decision. Ciolacu promised to honor Barbosu and her teammate Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, who finished fifth, as Olympic medallists.
