Justin Bonsignore replaces William Sawalich in NASCAR Xfinity Phoenix finale due to concussion

William Sawalich, a Joe Gibbs Racing driver, will miss the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season finale at Phoenix Raceway due to concussion-like symptoms sustained in a crash at Talladega Superspeedway. Sawalich also missed the prior race at Martinsville Speedway and is currently working with Dr. Micky Collins at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to recover, aiming to return for the 2026 season opener at Daytona. Justin Bonsignore, a four-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, will substitute for Sawalich in the No. 18 Toyota, having already impressed with a 10th-place finish at Martinsville. Although Bonsignore was initially set to drive the No. 19 car to close out the season, he has now been assigned to the No. 18 team. Sawalich expressed gratitude for the support from his medical team, crew chief, and Joe Gibbs Racing while emphasizing the importance of being fully ready before returning to competition. Bonsignore brings a strong racing background and is eager to finish the season on a positive note for Joe Gibbs Racing.
