Steven Kwan Wins Fourth Straight Gold Glove
Cleveland Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan won his fourth consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove, becoming the first player in Cleveland history to earn the award in each of his first four MLB seasons. Kwan paced left fielders with 22 defensive runs saved, led all outfielders with 13 outfield assists and helped Cleveland lead MLB with 35 outfield assists; he ranks second among defenders over the last four seasons with 68 DRS. The award ties Kwan with Kenny Lofton for the most Gold Gloves by a Cleveland outfielder and places him alongside Vic Power and Omar Vizquel as the club’s only players with four-or-more straight Gold Gloves. League-wide, the Chicago Cubs had a major-league-high three winners, Kansas City, Boston and San Francisco each had two winners, eight players were first-time winners, and notable milestones included Royals teammates Bobby Witt Jr. and Maikel Garcia being the first shortstop‑third baseman teammates to win in the same season since 2013 and Giants catcher-pitcher duo Patrick Bailey and Logan Webb being the first catcher‑pitcher pair to both win in a season since 2013. Winners received cash bonuses from Rawlings, with Kwan’s reported at $50,000.
