British Tourist Investigated in Thai Woman's Death

British tourist Bearach Beataidh, 71, is under investigation after the decomposed body of a Thai woman, Duangta Khampongsom, 45, was discovered in his Pattaya hotel room. The pair were last seen on December 18 entering the room together, and Beataidh was captured on CCTV leaving on December 22, when the body was found. Building caretaker Prayoon Chinsai alerted police due to a foul odor, and upon entry, the woman's decaying body was found half-naked on the bed. Beataidh, found at a nearby bar, claimed he was unaware of her death, attributing her condition to an assault by an unknown attacker. Police reported no signs of struggle in the room but noted the body's advanced decomposition. Beataidh has denied any involvement in Duangta's death, and police are questioning him further.
