Three Athletic Trainers, Including John Norwig, Honored by Pro Football Hall of Fame

Three athletic trainers—Ed Block, Pepper Burruss, and John Norwig—will be honored with the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Awards of Excellence for the 2025 class. Block, who had a significant career with the Baltimore Colts, also founded the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation. Burruss, recognized for his long tenure with the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers, played a crucial role in the recovery of injured players. Norwig, who spent 32 years as the head trainer for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is noted for hiring the NFL's first full-time female athletic trainer and has been inducted into several halls of fame. The awards ceremony will take place in June, recognizing not only trainers but also assistant coaches and public relations directors. This initiative aims to honor contributions from those in behind-the-scenes roles in professional football.
