Rafa Benitez acknowledges Rangers managerial interest amid takeover progress
Rafa Benitez is reportedly aware of speculation linking him to the Rangers managerial position, as confirmed by Dougie Imrie, the Morton boss who recently met Benitez at a UEFA coaching course in Geneva. With a consortium led by American businessman Andrew Cavenagh nearing a takeover of Rangers, Benitez has emerged as a potential candidate to replace current interim manager Barry Ferguson, who took over after Philippe Clement's departure. Benitez, who has been out of work since leaving Celta Vigo, expressed his desire to return to the Premier League but remains open to the 'right opportunity.' Imrie mentioned that while Benitez acknowledged the rumors, he did not elaborate further. Ally McCoist also noted that the Rangers job would interest Benitez as he seeks a return to management. The consortium is actively considering names for the managerial role as they prepare for the club's future.
