Ex-Wycombe Owner Couhig Completes Reading FC Takeover
Reading Football Club has been taken over by Redwood Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Dogwood LLC owned by former Wycombe Wanderers owner Rob Couhig and his business partner Todd Trosclair, marking the end of Chinese businessman Dai Yongge's troubled tenure since 2017. The takeover, approved by the English Football League (EFL), includes ownership of the club, the Select Car Leasing Stadium, and Bearwood training ground, with Couhig named as chairman and both Couhig and Trosclair joining the club's board immediately. Yongge was disqualified under the EFL's owners' and directors' test due to financial mismanagement, leading to a forced sale and the club enduring point deductions totaling 18 over recent seasons, as well as withdrawal of the women's team from the second tier. Redwood Holdings has committed to restoring the club's position within English football with principles of honesty, transparency, and financial sustainability. The EFL expressed optimism about the new ownership ending uncertainty for staff, supporters, and the wider community after several difficult years for Reading. Couhig and Trosclair bring business and sports ownership experience, aiming to stabilize and rebuild the club's future.
