Former Scotland Captain Colin Hendry Sentenced for Harassing Ex-Partner

Colin Hendry, former Scotland captain and Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers, has been sentenced to a 12-month community order and given a restraining order for harassing his ex-partner following the end of their relationship. Hendry admitted to persistent harassment over six months, which included sending messages from multiple email accounts, calling without caller ID after being blocked, and contacting her via LinkedIn. Despite the victim’s clear rejection and requests for no contact, Hendry continued to show up at her home with unwanted gifts and flowers, causing her significant distress and anxiety. Lancashire Police intervened and warned Hendry to cease all communications. The Crown Prosecution Service emphasized that Hendry’s behavior was intimidating and persistent, and they will prosecute harassment regardless of whether it occurs in person or online. Hendry initially denied that his actions constituted harassment but ultimately admitted to the conduct in court.
