The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) has awarded 37 central contracts to players in the Women's High Performance Programme as Ireland's XV and Sevens squads prepare for the 2024-25 season. The Women's XVs will host Australia on September 14 at Kingspan Stadium, part of the Irish Rugby's 150th Year celebrations, before heading to Vancouver for the WXV1 campaign. Meanwhile, the Women's Sevens team, fresh off their Olympic debut in Paris, will begin pre-season training in mid-September for the upcoming HSBC SVNS Series in Dubai. Head of Women's Performance Gillian McDarby emphasized the importance of developing depth in the squads and noted the successful integration of young talents into senior contracts. The focus for both teams includes high-stakes competitions such as the Women's Six Nations and the World Cup in England next year. This initiative marks a continuing commitment to enhancing women's rugby in Ireland.
