Bristol Student Finds Scorpion in Shein Package

Sofia Alonso-Mossinger, a student at the University of Bristol, discovered a live Chinese scorpion inside a package ordered from Shein, a fast-fashion retailer. Initially mistaking it for a toy, she realized it was real when it moved, prompting her and her flatmates to capture it in a Tupperware container. This incident marks the second occurrence in a month, raising concerns about Shein's packaging processes. The company has conducted an internal investigation and confirmed adherence to standard procedures. The National Centre for Reptile Welfare stated that the scorpion's sting could be potentially life-threatening. Despite the fright, Alonso-Mossinger and her friends managed the situation with the help of a zoology student flatmate, who transferred the scorpion safely using kitchen tongs.
