Eindhoven plans acquisition of Brainport Industries Campus

The Municipality of Eindhoven plans to acquire the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC-1), a key industrial park hosting major tech firms including ASML and Meta, as well as educational institutions and startups. This strategic move aims to enhance local innovation and secure vital technological infrastructure, especially in light of previous concerns over foreign ownership, such as the sale of the High Tech Campus to Singapore's GIC. The city council is expected to review the purchase details on February 25, with financial specifics remaining confidential until then. Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers emphasized that owning BIC-1 will strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem and contribute to sustainable growth. The acquisition aligns with Eindhoven's broader plans for expansion, including the upcoming BIC-2 development. The current owner, Capreon, has noted the campus’s success and expressed confidence in the municipality as a steward for its future.
