Jannik Sinner Withdraws from Davis Cup Finals

Jannik Sinner, the US Open finalist, will not participate in the upcoming Davis Cup Finals group stage in Bologna due to the need for rest following his final match against Taylor Fritz. Italy's captain, Filippo Volandri, confirmed that this decision was made in consultation with Sinner's team to allow him a full recovery. Sinner, who was recently cleared in a doping case, led Italy to victory in the previous year's tournament, but will now be replaced by teammates including Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli. The Italian team will face Brazil, Belgium, and the Netherlands in their group matches, with the top two teams advancing to the finals in Malaga, Spain, in November. Notably, Olympic bronze medalist Lorenzo Musetti will also rest and not compete. Sinner faced criticism for opting out of last year's group phase but later earned acclaim after his contributions to Italy's title win and his Grand Slam success in January.
