Frost Secures Win Over Sceptres at Xcel Center
The Minnesota Frost defeated the Toronto Sceptres 5-2 at the Xcel Energy Center, ending their three-match losing streak and preventing Toronto from clinching a playoff spot. Taylor Heise and Britta Curl-Salemme scored two quick goals in the first 1:43, with Heise adding an insurance goal later on. Minnesota extended their lead to 4-0 with goals from Sophie Jaques and Liz Schepers before Toronto's Kali Flanagan and Daryl Watts narrowed the gap in the final period. Despite their league-best power play, Toronto couldn't capitalize against Minnesota's defense, led by Nicole Hensley with 27 saves. The win moves Minnesota into fourth place, two points ahead of Ottawa for the final playoff spot, while the league now pauses for the IIHF Women's World Championship. The regular season resumes on April 26, with Toronto facing the Boston Fleet and Minnesota hosting the New York Sirens.
