Turks and Caicos Mass Shooting Spurs Security Crackdown

Three people were killed and ten others injured in the Turks and Caicos Islands’ first known mass shooting, which occurred early Sunday morning at the Island Hookah Lounge on Providenciales. Authorities believe at least four gunmen carried out the attack, which is linked to ongoing Haitian gang-related violence and concerns about illegal firearms in the territory. No arrests have been made, but police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspects. Officials, including Premier Charles Washington Misick, have appealed to the Haitian community—about a third of the population—to help with the investigation and address gun smuggling.
