Romain Gregoire Leads Tour of Britain After Stage 4 Victory
Romain Grégoire, the 22-year-old French rider from Groupama-FDJ, won the fourth stage of the Tour of Britain with a strong finish on the uphill climb at Burton Dassett Hills, overtaking compatriot Julian Alaphilippe in the final 100 meters. Grégoire completed the 186.9 km stage in just over four hours, moving into the overall lead of the race and taking the green jersey from sprinter Olav Kooij. Alaphilippe finished second on the stage and is now third overall, while Britain's Matthew Brennan holds second place, two seconds behind Grégoire. British rider Sam Watson led late in the stage but was outpaced in the final stretch and finished 15th. The general classification remains closely contested, with Grégoire determined to defend his lead as the penultimate stage approaches, featuring a challenging climb known as The Tumble in Wales. Edoardo Zambanini secured third place in the stage, rounding out the podium.
