Billy Joel Releases New Single 'Turn the Lights Back On'

American singer-songwriter Billy Joel has released a new single, Turn the Lights Back On, his first track in 17 years. The song was highly anticipated by Joel's fans, who have been waiting for new music since his Valentine's Day 2007 release, All My Life. Featuring a melodious piano track, the song was co-written by Freddy Wexler, who also acted as producer, along with Arthur Bacon and Wayne Hector. In June 2023, Joel announced he would bring his Madison Square Garden residency to a close in July 2024 with his 100th consecutive performance at the venue, also his 150th overall. The New York native has expressed his intense self-criticism when it comes to songwriting, which led him to take an extended break from music.
