One dead, three injured in Indio head-on crash

A head-on collision on Fred Waring Drive in Indio early Friday morning resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman and injuries to three others. The crash occurred around 6:00 a.m. when a BMW sedan veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Nissan Sentra. The passenger in the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was reported to be in stable condition. Two occupants of the Nissan sustained major injuries, with one driver in critical condition at Desert Regional Medical Center. Authorities have closed Fred Waring Drive between Hoover Street and Monroe Street as they investigate the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact the Indio Police Department. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
