Kurt Sutter has exited his Netflix series The Abandons just three weeks before filming was set to conclude. The departure reportedly stems from creative differences, particularly following Netflix's concerns over the first episode's initial cut, which ran 1 hour and 40 minutes. Unable to condense it to a single hour, the episode will now be split into two, requiring additional scenes that have yet to be filmed. Otto Bathurst and Rob Askins will continue to oversee production without appointing a new showrunner. This exit marks another instance of Sutter's tumultuous exit from a project, recalling his departure from Mayans MC in 2019 due to complaints from cast and crew.
