Ex-Liverpool Andre Wisdom Survives 2020 Stabbing, Continues Semi-Pro Career

Andre Wisdom, a former Liverpool and Derby County defender, was brutally stabbed four times in June 2020 after leaving a house party in Liverpool during Covid-19 lockdown. The attack, carried out by five masked men attempting to steal his watch, left Wisdom with serious injuries including stab wounds to his thigh, head, chest, and buttocks. Despite undergoing surgery and returning to play for Derby County three months later, Wisdom acknowledges that the incident significantly altered the trajectory of his career and that he still experiences physical pain. After his release from Derby in 2021 and unsuccessful trials at other clubs, Wisdom resumed playing more regularly only in 2023 at non-league level and currently plays for FC United of Manchester in the seventh tier of English football. Wisdom has expressed regret about attending the party, admitting he should have stayed home recovering, and reflects that pride prevented him from escaping the attackers quickly.
