Seahawks Sign Undrafted WR Nate McCollum, Waive Guard Sala Aumavae-Laulu
The Seattle Seahawks signed undrafted rookie wide receiver and kick returner Nate McCollum to their 90-man roster, waiving offensive lineman Sala Aumavae-Laulu to make room. McCollum, who had five college seasons split between Georgia Tech and North Carolina, totaled 143 receptions for 1,521 yards and five touchdowns, with notable kick return experience, averaging 26.4 yards per return in his senior year. After participating in rookie minicamp with the New York Giants but going unsigned, McCollum now competes for a depth role in Seattle's wide receiver corps and potentially for kick return duties alongside rookie Tory Horton and veteran Steven Sims. Despite his smaller stature at 5-foot-8/9 and 184-185 pounds and limited offensive production, McCollum's agility and special teams value give him a chance to make an impact during training camp. The Seahawks continue reshaping their receiving options after the departures of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, adding multiple rookie receivers this offseason to bolster depth and special teams. While McCollum's role on offense is uncertain, his kick return skills may be the key to securing a roster spot.
