Robert Cole Parmalee, a 40-year-old man from Oregon, has been charged with stalking and harassing UConn basketball star Paige Bueckers. Parmalee was arrested after making alarming social media posts and sending bizarre emails claiming he wanted to marry her, which included references to Greek mythology and a fake wedding invitation. He was detained near Bradley International Airport with an engagement ring and lingerie, stating he was on his way to see Bueckers. The UConn police became aware of Parmalee's intentions in June, and despite initial posts being deemed non-threatening, his behavior escalated. Bueckers expressed concern for her safety and that of her family and teammates, prompting the court to impose strict pretrial supervision measures on Parmalee. He is set to appear in court again on October 22.
