Multiple North Dakota, South Dakota Schools Receive Blue Ribbon Honors

In 2025, several schools in South Dakota and North Dakota were recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools for their academic excellence and community engagement. In South Dakota, Howard High School, Jones County Middle School, and Warner Elementary School received honors for achievements in English, mathematics, attendance, and graduation rates, with emphasis on dedicated educators, parental support, and community involvement. Meanwhile, North Dakota designated Northern Cass Public School, Schroeder Middle School, and Burlington-Des Lacs Elementary School as Blue Ribbon Schools, acknowledging their exemplary high performance in reading and mathematics. The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction now administers the Blue Ribbon program independently after the U.S. Department of Education ended its role, allowing states more flexibility in recognizing outstanding schools. State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler praised the schools' teachers and administrators for their commitment to improving academic achievement and serving their communities. Both states highlighted the importance of local leadership and community partnerships in fostering student success.
