Mick Schumacher to Test IndyCar at IMS

Mick Schumacher will make his first IndyCar appearance in a private test for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on October 13, driving a Honda-powered Dallara DW12. The outing is intended to familiarise the former Formula 1 driver—who raced for Haas in 2021–22 and served as a Mercedes reserve in 2023–24—and who now competes in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine; RLL says the private session will let the team evaluate him and establish a baseline. Schumacher visited Indianapolis in May and said he was eager to experience an open-wheel car “where I can see my wheels.” His WEC seat is reportedly uncertain, and the test has prompted speculation linking him to Cadillac, Jota-run teams or McLaren’s forthcoming Hypercar project. With RLL’s current drivers on multi-year deals, a permanent IndyCar seat with the team is not guaranteed despite the test being organised without current commitments.
