Eduardo Saverin Donates S$20 Million to SAS

Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook, has made a historic donation of S$20 million (RM65 million) to the Singapore American School (SAS), marking the largest gift in the institution's history. This contribution, made alongside his wife Elaine, will fund the development of advanced play areas, cutting-edge STEM laboratories, and other improvements for a new elementary school currently being built. SAS Superintendent Tom Boasberg stated that the donation will have a 'transformative' impact on the school, which serves approximately 4,000 students. Additionally, the funds will support a Chinese immersion program and other strategic initiatives. Elaine Saverin expressed hope that the donation would benefit generations of students and emphasized its significance as a demonstration of their family's commitment to the school. Saverin, a Brazilian-born billionaire, moved to Singapore in 2009 and has an estimated net worth of US$30.5 billion linked to his holdings in Meta Platforms Inc.
