Fire in Lima Warehouse Continues to Spread, Causes Evacuations
A large fire at an illegal warehouse in Lima, Peru, which began on March 3, remains uncontrolled and is expected to burn until at least Sunday. The blaze has led to the collapse of four nearby buildings and caused the evacuation of multiple structures, with at least 17 individuals suffering from smoke inhalation. Over 400 firefighters and more than 50 tankers are currently on-site battling the flames. Local authorities have noted that the warehouse was unlicensed and had been previously shut down multiple times. The fire's origin is still under investigation, and the health ministry is monitoring the situation, including the potential evacuation of a nearby maternity ward. Despite significant efforts, the fire continues to pose risks to surrounding areas.
