Raiders to Release QB Gardner Minshew on March 12
The Las Vegas Raiders have announced that they will release quarterback Gardner Minshew at the start of the new league year on March 12, 2025. Minshew, who signed a two-year, $25 million contract with the Raiders last offseason, struggled during the 2024 season, starting nine games and recording nine touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 2-7 record before suffering a season-ending collarbone injury. His release will save the team $6.3 million against the 2025 salary cap. With Minshew's departure, the Raiders are expected to actively pursue new quarterback options, with potential interest in veterans like Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson, as well as draft prospects. Minshew, who has played for multiple teams including the Jaguars, Colts, Eagles, and Raiders, will enter free agency as a seasoned veteran with 68 career touchdown passes. The Raiders' decision reflects their intent to revamp under new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek.
