Oscars, LA Marathon Resolve 2026 Date Conflict

A significant scheduling conflict between the 2026 Oscars and the Los Angeles Marathon, both initially set for March 15, has been resolved after weeks of uncertainty. The Academy Awards will remain on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre, while the LA Marathon will move to a different date later in March, yet to be announced. The McCourt Foundation, which organizes the marathon, and the Academy have agreed that in future years the marathon will be held on the third Sunday of March, with the Oscars scheduled to avoid this date. Both organizations also plan to partner in promoting each other's events for the benefit of the Los Angeles community. Conan O'Brien will return as host of the 98th Academy Awards. City officials, including Mayor Karen Bass, praised the agreement for ensuring the safety, success, and visibility of both major L.A. events.
