Since the fires began on January 7, over 38,500 acres have burned, resulting in at least 24 fatalities and the destruction of numerous homes, including those of several celebrities. Doja Cat, who has personal ties to the community, expressed her heartbreak over the loss of Malibu's Harbor Studios, where she recorded her album. The initiative has garnered appreciation from fans and highlights the ongoing crisis as firefighters continue to battle the blazes.
