Recent research from Seattle University has introduced the concept of 'symbiosexuality,' defined as the attraction to the energy and dynamics shared between a couple rather than to the individuals themselves. Led by Dr. Sally W. Johnston and published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, the study surveyed 373 participants, revealing that 145 reported experiencing this type of attraction. The majority of respondents were queer, polyamorous, and white, suggesting a specific demographic trend. Dr. Johnston's findings challenge traditional notions of attraction, advocating for a broader understanding that includes relationships between established couples. Participants described feeling energized by the connection between couples, with some expressing desires to be included in such relationships. This emerging interest highlights the complexities of human attraction and the varied dynamics within polyamorous communities.
