A woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she was charged by a black bear while hiking with her dogs on private property in Ferry County, Washington. The incident occurred near Mink Creek Road, where the bear chased her dogs before attacking her. She was treated at a Spokane hospital and is expected to recover. Following the attack, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) officers located and lethally removed a bear believed to be involved; however, it was later identified as a male bear. Efforts to locate the female bear involved in the incident were unsuccessful, and operations were suspended at the landowner's request. WDFW advises the public to be cautious in bear country and provides safety tips for encounters.
