Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha's Family Files £2.15bn Claim

The family of late Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has initiated a £2.15 billion legal claim against helicopter manufacturer Leonardo S.p.A. following the tragic crash that killed him and four others in October 2018. This claim, which represents the largest fatal accident suit in English history, cites allegations of negligence and faults in the design process that led to the helicopter's tail rotor failure, as detailed in a recent report by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). The AAIB's findings indicated that the pilot could not have avoided the crash due to the mechanical failure. Vichai's family is seeking compensation for loss of earnings, pain endured before death, and funeral expenses, building on the assertion that King Power Group was a highly profitable business at the time. Leonardo has expressed its intention to defend against the claims while emphasizing its adherence to safety standards. Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Vichai's son and current chairman, stated the profound personal loss his family continues to feel due to the tragedy.
