The victim, Dr. A N Rai, was coerced into transferring funds to avoid legal repercussions, prompting police to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further investigation. Meanwhile, in Thane, a gynaecologist lost Rs 7 lakh to five individuals who claimed to be police officers, alleging her involvement in money laundering and keeping her engaged in calls for hours before she realized the scam. The Thane police are actively investigating this case as well. These incidents highlight the growing prevalence of cyber fraud targeting medical professionals across India, necessitating enhanced protective measures and law enforcement resources to combat such crimes.
