Florida AG Subpoenas Roblox Over Child Exploitation

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued criminal subpoenas to Roblox alleging the platform enabled sexual predators to access, groom and abuse children and demanding documents on age verification, chat moderation, marketing to minors, and the collection and processing of children’s data. Uthmeier’s office says investigations and reports — including cases where predators used Roblox’s in‑game currency (Robux) to bribe children for sexually explicit images — have led to arrests and, in some reported incidents, alleged kidnappings. The subpoenas build on an earlier April probe and come amid multiple civil lawsuits and a separate lawsuit by Louisiana accusing Roblox of facilitating widespread sexual exploitation of minors. Roblox says it shares the goal of child safety, cooperates with law enforcement, and uses filters, age‑estimation and AI tools and reporting mechanisms to detect and refer dangerous users. State prosecutors say those measures have not prevented predators from exploiting the platform.
