Rangers Blank Angels 4-0, Mahle Shines Post-Surgery
The Texas Rangers ended a three-game losing streak with a 4-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Angels, led by Tyler Mahle, who struck out nine and allowed only three hits over six innings in his fourth start since returning from Tommy John surgery, improving his record to 3-0 and his ERA to 0.92. Four relievers helped secure Texas' third shutout of the season. The Rangers scored their first run in the sixth inning after a bunt single and a throwing error, then added to their lead with back-to-back doubles and timely hits in the following innings. Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi pitched six strong innings but received no run support, resulting in the Angels' first shutout loss of the year. Texas improved to 7-1 at home, while the Angels fell to a three-game losing streak. The series continues with José Soriano set to pitch for the Angels and Patrick Corbin for the Rangers.
