Benjamin Mendy Sues Manchester City for Wages

Benjamin Mendy, the former Manchester City defender, is suing the club for £11 million in unpaid wages after being suspended in 2021 following charges of rape, from which he was acquitted last year. In a tribunal, Mendy claimed that 'several' teammates, including the club captain, attended the same alcohol-fuelled sex parties he hosted, arguing that he was unfairly singled out by the club. He stated that all involved drank alcohol, had casual relations with women, and breached Covid-19 restrictions, emphasizing that his behavior was not unique within the squad. Mendy's contract included significant performance bonuses, but his salary was withheld after the charges emerged, leading him to struggle financially. He highlighted the support he received from teammates like Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva during his legal battles. Mendy, now playing for FC Lorient in France, maintains that he was publicly humiliated despite being falsely accused.
