RBI Receives IED Threat Email in Russian

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a bomb threat email in Russian, claiming an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted in its Mumbai headquarters to be remotely detonated within five days. The threatening email, sent to Governor Sanjay Malhotra's official address, also urged him to join a 'brotherhood movement for Ukraine.' Mumbai Police have registered a case against unknown individuals under relevant legal provisions, but no suspicious items have been found in the RBI premises so far. This incident follows a similar threat received by the RBI earlier, as well as multiple bomb threats to schools in New Delhi, which were investigated and deemed hoaxes. The authorities are actively investigating these threats, highlighting concerns over security and the psychological impact on the public, especially children. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying the sender.
