Capitals Overcome Blue Jackets 2-1 in Overtime
The Washington Capitals defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 in overtime, extending their point streak to eight games and their road winning streak to ten. Charlie Lindgren made 32 saves, while Aliaksei Protas scored both goals for Washington, including his first career overtime winner. Columbus took an early lead with a power play goal from Zach Werenski, who became the first Blue Jackets defenseman to reach 100 career goals. The Capitals, now 20-6-2, remain a point ahead of the New Jersey Devils for first place in the Metropolitan Division. Despite the loss, the Blue Jackets showed resilience, converting on one of their five power play opportunities. The Capitals will face the Buffalo Sabres next on Saturday.
