The Killeen community is mourning the loss of Fire Captain Marvin Taylor III, who died in a car crash while leaving an Austin hospital to pick up his children shortly after the birth of his fifth child. Fire Chief James Kubinski shared a heartfelt video statement expressing the department's grief and honoring Captain Taylor's dedication and selflessness. The Killeen City Flag was lowered as a mark of respect, and a motorcade escorted Captain Taylor's body from Austin to Temple for mortuary services. Mayor Debbie Nash-King offered prayers and condolences to Taylor's family and the fire department, highlighting his courage and commitment. A fundraiser initially set to raise $25,000 for Taylor's family quickly surpassed its goal and has since been increased to $75,000.
