Allianz Commercial Launches Climate Risk Platform Mapping 12 Perils Globally
Allianz Commercial has introduced Climate Adaptation & Resilience Services (CAReS), a data-driven platform designed to help businesses identify, assess, and manage climate change risks affecting their assets through 2080. CAReS converts physical climate risks—including tropical storms, floods, wildfires, hail, and extreme heat—into quantifiable financial and physical loss metrics at both portfolio and location levels, supported by a five-step process and a dashboard providing risk scores. The launch coincides with rising global economic losses from natural catastrophes, which reached $327 billion in 2024, with insured losses totaling $138 billion. Michele Williams, global head of Allianz Risk Consulting, emphasized that climate risks are inevitable and affect all industries, highlighting recent severe events such as U.S. wildfires and hurricanes that have caused significant business interruptions and financial damage. The platform also aligns with findings from the 2025 Allianz Risk Barometer, which ranks climate change as a top risk to global businesses due to its impact on operations, regulatory pressures, and supply chain disruptions. Allianz combines CAReS with in-house consulting services to support companies in climate risk mitigation and resilience planning across multiple sectors and time horizons.
