William, diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition that weakens the heart's ability to pump blood, is currently on life support at Great Ormond Street Hospital. His mother, Laura Osborne, emphasizes that a heart transplant is his only chance of survival, requiring a donor baby of similar size and weight. NHS Blood and Transplant nurse Angie Scales acknowledges that while donation involves immense grief for another family, it can also bring comfort knowing their child's organs save lives. William's condition was identified after his parents noticed feeding difficulties and excessive sleepiness.
